CAMBODIA DESTINATION HIGHLIGHTS

The most popular time to go to Cambodia is between November and February, with the peak season falling between late December and mid January. At this time of year the weather in Cambodia is excellent—there is little rain and it isn’t uncomfortably hot. This is a popular time of the year though, and destinations such as Angkor Wat and the Cambodian islands can be very busy

The capital Phnom Penh is a chaotic, energetic and fascinating city. The city is situated in the confluence of three great rivers – the mighty Mekong, the Tonle Sap and the Bassac, and is the commercial, economic and political hub of the country. Top attractions include the Royal Palace and the National Museum, which contains a large collection of Khmer artifacts.

UNESCO World Heritage Angkor Complex. These 1000 year old ruins are the remains of the highly developed Khmer empire. Nestled between rice paddies and the Siem Reap River, and not far from the Tonle Sap Lake biosphere reserve, the township is a great base from which to explore all in the company of a local guide for a true local experience

This largest freshwater lake in South East Asia is a major importance to Cambodia. The lake expands and shrinks dramatically with the seasons from November to May in the dry season and in June, when the year’s heavy rains begins, the flow of the Tonlé Sap changes directions and an enormous lake forms. Tonlé Sap is home to many floating villages around the lake.
